I really wish you would!

Honestly, I do! I wish that you would go for your dreams like your life depended on it, because guess what? They DO.

The Bible tells us in Romans 8: 19, that Creation is waiting for you to be revealed. Yes, you!
You might feel unqualified
You might feel inadequate
You might feel unprepared
But guess what?! You join the millions of others who took the leap of faith anyway!

You heard this before:
JK Rowling was turned down by 6 publishers before the awesome Harry Potter books made history.
Oprah was told by her first boss that she was too emotional and not right for TV, and according to Forbes Magazine remains the richest self-made woman and only black female billionaire.
Walt Disney was fired from a Missouri newspaper for “not being creative enough. He’s been bankrupt but now is a household name! He still holds the record for the most Oscars won by an individual, according to Walt

I look at lists like this and it encourages me to carry on even when I slip up. Most of my life is lived out in the public eye, which means that you get to see my messy times as well as my awesome times.
I take ownership of everything, because it’s all apart of my story.
I know that it’s because of my story that I overcome.
I can talk to people all over the world and pull them out of despair because I know what that feels like.
I can look you in the eye, and say ‘nothing is impossible’ because I have seen this for myself.
I tell you about miracles everyday, because my life IS a miracle.

So, go on! I double dare you to silence the fear and do it anyway.

Today, I’m encouraging you to; start that biz, apply for that job, send in that show-reel, turn up to that audition, ask that guy out…it’s time!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, so please comment below. xx

Bloggers Hangout // Bloggers Fashion Week

I love all thing beauty and fashion  related, so it was a treat to be invited to the Bloggers Fashion Week hosted by the Bloggers Hangout on Monday 21st March 2016.

There were so many amazing brands, and beautiful bloggers to interact with, and I came home laden with lots of gooodies!

My outfit was comfortable, chic and casual.

Here are a few of the brands I had the honour of talking with:

Ioma from Paris. I had a wonderful chat with them and made a few discoveries about my skin at the same time. They have made innovations in skincare, using technology to cater to your skin needs. Definitely a brand to look out for; luxury products that are still affordable.

Curls; I absolutely adored this range of products for all curl types. They’re suitable for all curl types, so I used them on my curly extensions as well as on my naturally curly hair. They smell nice too!

I adore my Magnitone brush, so it was a no-brainer for me to visit the stand and try our the new range. It was great to offer feedback on my current brush and hear about the new range.

I really enjoyed my day, stay tuned for reviews of the products I received by following me here and here.

Love you lots!

Your dreams are the life source for your goals.

It is imperative that we keep ourselves focused and guide our actions along the path to ‘making things happen.’ Too often, we can get side-tracked by our present circumstance, forgetting the dreams that we once held close to our heart.

Many of the great innovations what we enjoy today were built and founded upon dreamers; men and women who visions that will, and have extended beyond their lifetimes. I can name Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Emmeline Pankhurst, Richard Branson, Margaret Thatcher, Queen Victoria, and Martin Luther King Jr. and the list grows year by year.

What legacy of dreams will you leave behind?

I read that Colin Powell once said this,” A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” He’s right, he should know. Powell was the first African-American to be the United States Secretary of State, but his journey to get there was far from easy. He had to work hard to change the minds and perceptions of those around him, in order to rise to the most trusted position in the American Government.

He dreamt about his career path, and put the work in to get there, but I’m sure his dream journey took him on roads he never expected.

What do all Practical Dreamers have in common?

  • Perseverance – You do not give up or change your mind after the first setback, bankruptcy, redundancy or defeat.

Take time to re-assess your options, seek advice and evaluate your situation

  • Pride – You proud of your dreams, and you are able to defend your vision as needed. You take pride in your vision, and you realise that what you carry is important.

However, don’t be too full of pride that you can’t ask for help. If your dream can be fulfilled by you alone, then it’s too small

  • Purpose – You are clear on what you want to achieve. You know what your dreams will change the world. Even if you don’t have faith, pretend!
  • Plan – You know what you want to see, even if you’re not 100% sure how to get it done. Write down what you do know, and ask for help in the areas that you’re struggling. Make a plan of action of how you can move to the next step.
  • People – You know what your dream requires the support and connection with others. Find your tribe, your people; those who can run with you, and work with you. Connect with those who are strong in the areas that are your weaknesses.

The things about dreams is that, they will remain as dreams until you decide to act on them. Wishing your dreams to come pass will not get you very far?, even if you pray, you’ll probably have to put some effort into making them come to pass. I can hear some of you thinking; “surely, if it’s meant to happen, it will happen anyway?” Yes and no; your future is in your hands, why not take steps today to see your dreams come true? I can’t lie and say that it’s going to be really easy, even if they’re meant to be, you’ll probably still face obstacles.

Stay focused

One of my dreams was to record and release an EP. I sought advice from friends, and other artists, but I couldn’t quite get my project off the ground. I had the songs, that part was easy. I’m well organised, so the planning was a walk in the park, but raising the money? That was a struggle. You see, I’ve always made money through singing, and I haven’t had a regular income. I started recording my EP around my 25th birthday, back in 2010, but it didn’t work out. My first single came out a year later, but I deleted it from iTunes shortly after, as I was ashamed of the product. I had all the right ingredients, but for some reason, it wasn’t making me happy. It was time to simplify things.

In December 2012, I finally completed recording my 7 track EP. I made things really simple, together with my producer Jake Isaac, we came up with this idea: record at home in my living room, acoustic style, invite friends and family to make it an authentic experience. It worked! It didn’t cost too much, and it isn’t perfect but by amending a few things I managed to make it work.

My first EP; King of my heart LIVE, is still live on iTunes, and my video views rise everyday – a dream come true!

This is why I constantly do the following;

  • Remind myself of dreams that haven’t come true, possibly amend them
  • Celebrate when dreams come true
  • Dream again!

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible”
